The Art of Sustainable Luxury

As Earth Day approaches on April 22nd, it's a timely reminder to reflect on our collective impact on the planet and the steps we can take to preserve its beauty and resources for future generations.

Grace de Monaco operates under the high patronage of His Serene Highness Prince Albert II, who stands as a beacon of environmental stewardship. His foundation champions innovative solutions and advocates for environmental conservation and sustainable development. His dedication to promoting green initiatives reinforces the importance of responsible practices in our operations. Through his leadership and actions, H.S.H. Prince Albert inspires us to strive towards a more harmonious relationship with nature, just as his mother, Princess Grace, did in her time.

Our sustainable fragrance initiatives

Collaborating with innovative companies like Firmenich and PCW France and industry leaders like Véronique Gabai, Olivier Cresp, Jérôme Faillant-Dumas, and Xavier Blaizot, we strive to source and produce responsibly, while prioritizing high-quality products.

The French perfume industry is renowned for its heritage and traditions. This artistry resulted in each carefully selected ingredient referencing and connecting to Princess Grace in some way, while preserving our commitment to responsible standards. We employ a thoughtful blend of high-quality natural and synthetic ingredients. This deliberate approach allows us to avoid depleting precious natural resources or employing unethical practices, like the extraction of musk. By collaborating with fragrance companies like Firmenich and PCW France, we embrace innovation and creativity while producing elegant and artful formulations.

  • Promenade Sur Le Rocher features AMBROXTM SUPER, a synthetic amber with notes of wood and musk. Developed by Firmenich, it provides a quintessential amber signature, similar to ambergris. Ambergris, derived from sperm whales, is a scarce and protected substance. Similarly, Xavier Blaizot (PCW France) used Ambroxan as a base note in Ombre Sereine to conjure a rugged, musk-like mineral scent.
  • Danse Étoilée features lily of the valley, considered a “silent flower” because it does not produce any essence. In this situation, a synthetic is prioritized to recreate its delicate floral and green notes.

Circular design

On the design side, we've partnered with Jérôme Faillant-Dumas to create understated packaging. By employing thoughtful materials and designs, we strive to minimize waste without compromising on sophistication or functionality.

Our scented candles and Fragrance Diffuser are handcrafted in Limoges, a city in the South of France known for its porcelain. For our candles, we take pride in using vegan vegetable and mineral waxes, as well as cotton wicks, to achieve a cleaner, longer burn. Our unique blend of waxes emits fewer substances into the air compared to traditional paraffin wax candles. We carefully hand-pour our candles in small batches, allowing us the control to customize them using our high-quality fragrance oils. The floral embossed ceramic vessel, conceived by Jérôme Faillant-Dumas, exemplifies circular design, and is meant to be repurposed into your home décor. Our Porcelain Fragrance Diffuser, a stunning work of art on its own, is a modern alternative to a traditional flower arrangement, without the environmental impact.  Discover our tips for finding your perfect home accent here and here.

Forever fashion pieces

Our silk and cashmere accessories are screened by hand in Italy, a country renowned for its production of silk and other fine fibers. We prioritize a slow, artisanal production process to create exquisite textiles and reduce energy consumption.

Our silk designs consist of carefully introducing each dye onto a printing frame until the desired pattern is achieved. Our silk scarves and twillies are then meticulously hemmed and finished by hand – ensuring a special attention to detail. The beauty of both natural silk and cashmere lies in their lightweight and soft, smooth texture. As natural fibers, both silk and cashmere production have a lower environmental impact compared to their synthetic counterparts. Silk and cashmere are natural, renewable, and biodegradable, making them savvy choices for comfortable, lasting wear. Find our timeless tips for styling a headscarf and twilly here and here
